Chartered in 1938, Carpenters Local 1281 is the largest Carpenters Local in the State of Alaska.  As part of the Alaska Regional Council of Carpenters, Local 1281 represents Union Carpenters, Millwrights, Lathers, Metal Stud Framers, Sheetrockers, Acoustical Ceilings workers, Welders, and Insulators working in Alaska south of the 63rd parallel (except for Southeastern Alaska which is represented by Carpenters Local 2247).

Carpenters working through Local 1281 offers good employment opportunities in Alaska and nationally through a network of Locals.

Carpenters Local 1281 Apprenticeship program is one of the finest in the nation.  Apprentice applications are accepted at the Apprentice Training Center.  Prior experience can be credited for advance placement.
