" It's A LuLu Small World "
Known as "Alaska's Platinum Voice", Ms. LuLu Small has been a successful
and popular Entertainer throughout the Last Frontier, as well as internationally
for over 3 decades. Her venues include Germany, Mexico, Canada, and various
other performances in the "lower 48".
LuLu's powerful and entrancing 5-octave vocal range, combined with her larger-than-life
musical talent, endless energy, uncanny wit and subtle humor, add to an entertaining
evening anywhere she performs. With LuLu's incredible ability to emulate many
diverse vocalists, listeners are awestruck and amazed at her renditions of
such performers as ELVIS, Garth Brooks,
Stevie Nicks, Randy Travis, Bob Dylan, and Phoebe Snow, to name only a few!
As a songwriter, LuLu's personal songs are stunning, full of emotion and musical
professionalism, and very contemporary. Her first CD release "It's A
LuLu Small World" in 1995 was a total sell-out, both in Alaska and abroad.
She recently recorded her second release, "It's a LuLu-Palooza"
, which has sold well over 1,000 copies in less than one year! Anyone who
is fortunate enough to posses one of LuLu's CD's is very pleased, and many
of her fans are awaiting more of her original music, as well as a future comedy
album!
LuLu is also involved with Alaska's Greatest Campout and Music Festival, the
Talkeetna Bluegrass & Music Festival, held every year the first weekend
of August in a very accessible and accommodating location. LuLu is known as
the "Voice of Bluegrass", being the most popular Emcee the festival
has had, as well as performs at least one special set every year, both as
a solo and with her NEW all-female band, "LuLu & The Small Band".
As of 2009, LuLu is now solely in charge of booking the TBMF, and has embarked
on yet another phase of her vast and seemingly endless career…
LuLu has easily become known as the "hardest working WOMAN in Alaskan
show business" , and to this date is booked throughout most of the year.
LuLu Small will definitely be a performer to make plans in advance to see
and hear...and she will leave you wanting more!!!!
If you thought that good things come in small packages, then you will be certain
to find that the Greatest things are in LuLu Small's Package!
Anyway, in the wake of the Aqua Nets and our 10-year run, it's time to move
on and join forces with more musicians and play more music in an economy that
is hungry for that "other reality" which is LIVE music and musical events,
such as the Talkeetna Bluegrass and Music Festival....I feel I have booked
a roster of some of the finest Alaskan acts, and at least 5 of them from Homer
and Kenai...it's time to bring the Peninsula to the party!!! I must send out
a shout-out to ALL the musicians playing this year, as they have been incredibly
accommodating and very cooperative in allowing me to give them (the Peninsula
players) some quality time on stage---I haven't had this big of task yet,
and I'm already feeling like a "natural"...so I hope to see a LOT of music
fans this year at the festival, as we are trying to "bring it back to that
"Woodstock, Alaskan Style"....
And with that being said, I would like to ask a BIG favor of my fans---if
possible I would like to hear from any of you out there who may have a suggestion
or an idea for this year's TBMF (Talkeetna Bluegrass & Music Fest), like things
you'd like to see, hear, do, etc...or simply comments about your experience.
I will forward them to Dirty Ernie, as HE wants to hear from the "Festival-heads"
as well...as this is an event that also has been a gathering of friends, families,
tourists, old and new aquaintances for almost 29 years---THE Longest-running
Music event in Alaska! And we are looking to KEEP IT GOING well into the next
20 years, as there are more musicians than there are time slots, and their
kids are growing up and soon will be playing at the festival !!
I thank you all for your continued support over the past 30 years, and look
forward to "Rockin' the Last Frontier" with you all soon!
*lulu*
p.s... I can still make some "Bootlegger" CD's if anyone wants one or more
(of both the "Small World" and "LuLu-Palooza")... email me
here for more info.
