CONTRA BOREALIS DANCERS Minutes Meeting---November 15, 2005

1. Those present: Sue Cole, Jim Deininger, Alan Braley, Colleen Herning, Marty Baldridge (Isabelle came in partway, early for her event at the hall)

2. Time, Date, Place of next meeting: Tuesday December 20, 2005 Alaskaland 5:30 P.M.

3. Minutes: corrections? (meeting date was moved one day sooner from Nov 16)

4.Treasurers Check-in: Alan says that the Notorious event with Larry Unger and Eden Somer-MacAdam had a loss of about $270 plus the price of Kari's airplane ticket.

5. Membership Check-in: Jim sent the member list to Isabelle. Those folks who are members of contra and ballroom are split between us, so we are not paying to double-insure the same person. (dancer members are 167 for Ballroom, 95 for Contra, and 35 for Square dance.)

6. Newsletter Report: We still need a new newsletter person.

7. Dance master Check-in: Sue Fenner (479-2761) has been doing a great job as the new dancemaster. She called Marty from the hall on Nov 16, because Marty forgot to call her to update the meeting change. Sue hopes to be in the email world soon.

8. Webmaster tells all: John was not able to be here.

9. Publicity Report: Barbara was not able to be here.

10. Scheduler's Report: Welcome to Colleen as our new scheduler. John will send her the email list of band members and callers. She will send an email note to all and a mailed paper list of dance dates. She will set Dec 15 as the deadline for responses and hold people to it.

11. Corporation Report: Jim is the secretary for the Corporation. The president Jerrie resigned over an issue with curtains for the mirrors. The new president is George Kellum and the new vice-president is Kim Neilsson from Tai Chi. The hearing enhancement system for the hall has arrived and will be available for groups to use soon. In progress is a draft use policy. The Moore St. gate will be locked over the Thanksgiving weekend. Semi-annual hall cleanup should be soon, usually the first Saturday in December, although the kitchen is the only area which really needs cleanup. The mess in the basement is mostly Ballroom and Santa's. Corporation meeting minutes are on the dancealaska.org website.

12. Student Rep Report: Pat Webb was not able to be here (he has a class on Tuesday eve.)

13. Anything Else? Sue's last meeting with us will be in December. She is stepping down as contra president after 15 years of faithful service, about 10 as president. We will miss her and hope she will keep coming to dances. Jim had the idea for a meeting at the break at the dance on Jan 21. School will be back in session and most folks should be back from holiday travels. We will send out a plea for new officers.

Adjourned at 6:30 PM.
