CONTRA BOREALIS DANCERS
Minutes Meeting---January 17, 2006
1. Those present: Jim Deininger, Alan Braley, Colleen Herning and Marty Baldridge
2. Time, Date, Place of next meeting: Tuesday February 14, 2006 Alaskaland 5:30 P.M.
3. Minutes: corrections? none
4.Treasurers Check-in: Alan has nothing new to report.
5. Membership Check-in: Jim has some news under Corporation.
6. Newsletter Report: We still need a new newsletter person.
7. Dance master Check-in: Sue Fenner was not able to attend.
8. Webmaster tells all: John is not able to be here.
9. Publicity Report: Barbara was not able to be here. Publicity for the Jan. 21 dance went to the News-Miner, but did not include potluck plans, so we are free to change those.
10. Scheduler's Report: Colleen will send Barbara the contact information for advertising in the Alaska Monthly via Jim's hotmail address. Colleen discovered that she can not send directly to any ACS or mosquitonet address from her hotmail one. Maybe John has some insight as to how to fix this problem for Colleen. She will schedule the band if one is needed for Friday April 28.
11. Corporation Report: Jim says the last Corporation meeting discussed Hall scheduling. Most of the conflicts are due to non-weekend use, and so do not involve our group. Tai Chi is having a special event on the weekend of April 15, but they will be done by our scheduled dance. In that discussion, it came up that April 28 is open. Jim will double check this, since there is an event listed on the calendar in the entry. We could add an extra contra, since one dance in April is a swing dance and the first dance in May is a Renaissance one. Some week nights at the Hall might be available for our use in the weeks between the scheduled classes from other groups. Sue Cole suggested (via phone to Marty) that we could do a week night waltz, hambo, or tricky moves in contra type workshop.
12. Student Rep Report: Pat Webb was not able to be here.
13. Anything Else? We discussed the potluck before the Jan 21 dance to honor Sue, who is stepping down as Pres. We decided that we should take her out to dinner instead. Marty will check with Sue and arrange details. We plan to have a cake at the dance on Jan. 21 in her honor and make a plea to dancers and members for help on the board.
