CONTRA BOREALIS DANCERS Board Meeting Minutes

November 28, 2006

1. Those present: Scott Luper, Alan and Barbara Braley, Sue Cole, Colleen Herning, and Marty Baldridge, .

2. Time, Date, Place of next meeting: The next regular board meeting will be Jan 23, 2007 at 5:30 PM at the Hall. There will be a special meeting before then to brainstorm ways to make the dances break even. Those on the committee to increase outreach are Scott, Barbara, Colleen, and Sue. Anyone else on the board can volunteer. Scott will send a note letting us know the time and place of the meeting, probably in Jan. 2007.

3. Minutes: corrections? none

4.Treasurers Check-in: Alan gave us a summary sheet showing dance balances for the year to date. He also gave a comparison chart for the years 1999-2006. Dances this year have lost $827. We have $9000 in the bank, but will brainstorm ways to get more people to dances. Scott will ask Kurt Byers or Don Turner if we can use the speakers in the Hall to save a little on sound.

5. Membership Check-in: Jim is not able to be here.

6. Newsletter Report: Lynn is not able to be here. We need to get a newsletter mailed out as soon as the new schedule is set.

7. Dance master Check-in: Sue is not able to be here. The last dance had better bookkeeping at the door.

8. Webmaster tells all: John is not able to be here, but he has made updates to the webpage as needed.

9. Publicity Report:Barbara says the era of posters is over mostly. Most bulletin boards are overflowing with paper and our schedules don't stay up for the semester. She has a few places that work. Her working publicity spots are the News-Miner Kaleidoscope and Fairbanks Square and announcements on KUAC FM. Word of mouth and the web work well. She sends e-mails to current members and "expired " members back 6 years. We could give Charlie Hunt a poster to put up on base.

10. Scheduler's Report: Colleen set Dec 15 as the deadline to bands and callers to respond to her call for the spring dance schedule. She will put together the schedule after that.

11. Corporation Report: Scott reports that the Corporation meeting was short. The only item of note was that the plumbing needs fixing.

12. Student Rep Report: Pat is not able to be here.

Summer dance camp 2007--- Scott will check with those who volunteered to work on this. The band and caller need to be scheduled ASAP.

Winter dance camp 2007 ?????

14. Anything Else ? The Chinook school fund-raising dance on Feb. 23 would be a good chance to collect e-mails for dance reminders and new members.

Board members to Organize Cleanup: Scott volunteered for Dec 16.
