CONTRA BOREALIS DANCERS Board Meeting Minutes
January 23, 2007
1. Those present: Scott Luper, Alan and Barbara Braley, Jim Deininger, Lynn Basham, Colleen Herning, Cynthia Steiner and Marty Baldridge, .
2. Time, Date, Place of next meeting: The next board meeting will be Feb. 27, 2007 at 5:30 PM at the Hall.
3. Minutes: corrections? none
4.Treasurers Check-in: Alan paid our Hall insurance of $4.10 per member, total of $336.
5. Membership Check-in: Jim says we have 98 members plus 13 more new ones from the box. Two thirds are adults and one third are students.
6. Newsletter Report: Lynn has the newsletter almost ready. Someone suggested that FRA will put it together and mail it for a reasonable charge.
7. Dance master Check-in: Sue Fenner is not able to be here. Marty will call and check in with her. Alan will do door for the next dance on Feb 2.
8. Webmaster tells all: John is not able to be here. The Chinook school fund-raising dance on Feb.23, can be added to webpage.
Marty will check with John.9. Publicity Report: Barbara has a new person (Abby) to work with at the News-Miner. Barbara has invited contra dancers to be a part of a Dance Showcase she is organizing for May 5, 2007 at Hering auditorium. The event will feature many local dance groups, including North Star Ballet and Tundra Caravan and will be sponsored by Dance Omnium.
10. Scheduler's Report: Colleen has the Winter-Spring schedule up and dancing.
11. Corporation Report: Jim says the meeting was mostly about the kitchen. The oven needs cleaning and they want to replace the sink with a double sink. The garbage disposal leaks.
12. Student Rep Report: Pat is not able to be here.
13. Special Events/ Summer Dance Camp 2007: Cynthia Steiner gave us a report on the planning so far:
The in-town dance will be on Friday August 31.
Camp will run from noon Saturday September 1 through 4 PM on Monday September 3 (Labor Day.)
Negotiations are in progress with Lift Ticket and Woody Lane for band and caller. The band and will charge $950 plus some amount for travel. We will put out a plea for anyone with miles to donate.
We have a reservation in to the Boy Scouts for Lost Lake. They want $2100 for 100 dancers. We need to pay half ($1050) now.
Prices for dancers will be as follows: $175 adult early, $195 adult, $90 student early (13-25 years), $110 student , $55 children.
The rest of the budget is similar to 2005. Alan will check into a separate insurance policy to cover camp.
Who has the button maker and do we need supplies? Barbara will look to see if they have it.
Barbara offered to send a notice to the Upcoming events of CDSS.
Judie Gumm will help decorate.
We will offer bids for the sound contract to Gary Newman, Scott Darter, Bill Connor and Seth Danielson.
Jim Deininger will make up the flyer and handle registration.
Marty will work on the t-shirts.
We will make sign-up sheets for help on dance camp to put out at dances.
14. Anything Else ? Board members to Organize Cleanup: Barbara will organize cleanup on Feb 2, Scott on Feb 17, Lynn on March 2, Barbara on March 17.
