CONTRA BOREALIS DANCERS Board Meeting Minutes

February 27, 2007

1. Those present: Scott Luper, Sue Cole, Alan Braley, Jim Deininger, Lynn Basham, Colleen Herning, Cynthia Steiner and Marty Baldridge, .

2. Time, Date, Place of next meeting: The next board meeting will be March 27, 2007 at 5:30 PM at the Hall.

3. Minutes: corrections? none

4.Treasurers Check-in: Alan says we have $9600 in bank. We lost a little at the last dance.

5. Membership Check-in: Jim says we have 122 members.

6. Newsletter Report: Lynn sent out the newsletter. He will do another one which will have the summer schedule and dance camp info.

7. Dance master Check-in: Sue Fenner is not able to be here. She will retire in May. She did not find anyone for the last dance, but did call Marty and she and Jim B. did the door. We need to brainstorm folks for the job.

8. Webmaster tells all: John is not able to be here.

9. Publicity Report: Barbara is not able to be here. Did Barbara put anything about dance camp in CDSS?

10. Scheduler's Report: Colleen has dates for the summer schedule--all third Saturdays--June 16, July 21 and August 18.

11. Corporation Report: Kitchen complaints all got fixed. The oven was cleaned, the frig fixed and the garbage disposal fixed.

12. Student Rep Report: Pat is not able to be here. Do we actually need a student rep?

13. Special Events/ Summer Dance Camp 2007: Cynthia Steiner gave us an update on the planning so far :

Jim Deininger did a nice draft flyer for dance camp to us to revise and make suggestions.

Negotiations are still in progress with Lift Ticket and Woody Lane for band and caller. Some of members want more than originally discussed. Rex and one other band member will pay own transportation. They want to add a drummer ($275 + travel?) If a band member or caller wants to bring a spouse, that person can pay half price and own transportation. Cynthia did a revised budget.

Food--Gretchen and Ingrid Herreid will do it for $5000, includes simple supper Sat eve, 3 meals on Sun, and 2 on Monday. Cynthia will work from the old contract. Dick Gumm offered to oversee how the kitchen scholarship people work out at camp.

We have a reservation in to the Boy Scouts for Lost Lake. Alan paid the down-payment, but did not get a contract. The kitchen is currently gutted. They say the propane ovens are still there and working better. They plan 2 new convection ovens and a new 30qt mixer. There are no plans for a dishwasher. (Boy Scouts use paper.) Alan has the silverware. Where are the dishes? They will add a walk-in freezer. We need to find out how many cabin/beds there are currently at Lost Lake.

Alan will check into a separate insurance policy to cover camp.

Who has the button maker and do we need supplies? Barbara will look to see if they have it.

Did Barbara offered to send a notice to the Upcoming events of CDSS?

Marty has worked more on the t-shirt design.

14. Anything Else ? Board members to Organize Cleanup: Lynn will organize cleanup on March 2, Barbara on March 17, Scott on April 6, Jim D. on April 21, Barbara on May 4 and Lynn on May 19. We will figure out how we want to do the annual meeting. Lynn thinks we should try potluck idea again.
