ContraBorealis Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, December 4,
2007
The Board listened to the Raging Hormoans Cd and approved the
band for playing at contradances. The topic of dividing up dances among
bands was discussed and the Board decided to stick with the ongoing policy of
dividing up the dances evenly among the bands, regardless of their
seniority. There was also discussion about whether "splinter" bands of at
least two members from other bands would be considered in "new" contradance
bands. The board said that any new band needs to submit a CD.
Lynn
would like to add square dances in the possible extra dance dates.
Discussion followed and it was decided that Isabelle would need to approve using
the extra dance slots. Jim will talk to Isabelle about it. After
discussion about whether Contraborealis could even afford to pay for extra
dances, it was decided that we would stick with our first Friday, third Saturday
schedule and Lynn would need to organize any extra dance, including collecting
the money and paying for band, sound, etc.
After discussion of
Contraborealis finances, the Board decided to raise the fees starting in January
as follows:
Student dance fee: $3 (member)$5 (non-member)
Student membership: $10
Adult dance
fee: $5 (member)$8 (non-member)
Adult membership:
$15
The Board will wait at least a semester to see how the new fees add
up before deciding to add extra dances to our regular schedule.
The
discussion on next fall's Dance Camp focused on what to
offer the band and caller in payment. It was decided to start the
negotiations with last year's rate of $400 per band member and caller and work
up from there. Alan volunteered himself and Barbara to conduct the
negotiations.
Respectfully Submitted,
Colleen Herning
P.S.
Someone will need to coordinate a meeting date for January. I will be on
vacation until January 28, leaving in about a week.
P.S.S. Happy
New Year!!!
