Contra Borealis Dancers Board meeting minutes Feb. 15, 2008

1. Those Present: Alan and Barbara Braley, Jim Deininger, Cynthia Steiner, Colleen Herning and

Marty Baldridge

2. Next meeting is Friday March 21 at 5:00 PM at Gullivers.

3. Minutes: No feedback on the minutes from Jan. meeting.

4. Treasurer’s report: Alan sent us via email a summary of our accounts for the year. It shows us ahead

about $1850 for the year, due mostly to the success of Dance Camp. The dance budget summary for

2007 shows us a loss of $968. Alan put a deposit of $1100 down with the Boy Scouts to reserve Lost

Lake for Dance Camp. (total of $2200 estimated.) We will plan to use the extra rooms in the lodge and

may need to pay extra.

5. Membership: Jim may have said something about our member numbers, but I missed it. M.

6. Newsletter: Where is Lynn? Cynthia would like to have the workshop topics go out with the flyer.

7. Dancemaster: We still need one. Alan will do the door for the dance on Feb 16.

8. Webmaster: John is not able to be here.

9. Publicity: Barbara will bring some posters of this semester’s schedule to the Hall to post on the

bulletin board. She will send Lisa Greenleaf another email about calling at our 2009 Dance Camp.

10. Scheduler: Colleen requested dates for summer dances. We decided on June 21, July 19, and

Aug 21, all 3rd Saturdays. Marty will verify with Isabelle. Colleen attended a dance camp in Tucson,

Arizona with a great band, The Privy Tippers.

11. Corporation: Jim reports the ongoing concern with our insurance at the Hall. Since we pay to add

new members, but not to remove those no longer affilited, we end up paying more than we should. We

start over every October 1. Jim will contact the insurance company to see exactly what numbers they need.

12. Dance Camp: Dance Camp 2008-- The band (Hillbillies From Mars) and caller (Beth Molaro) have

tickets. Cynthia will see if Beth wants to teach a clogging workshop and what else she might like to do.

Gary Newman sent Jim a list of questions and comments about the sound contract. We agreed that there is

not much we can do about the bouncy floor in the lodge. Jim suggested that Gary contact Hillbillies for

more technical info about their needs.

Cynthia will contact Great Bear Trio again about coming in 2009 and will invite their suggestions for

callers. We talked about Notorious for a future camp and decided that a group of two might not be enough

to offer many workshops.
