Contra Borealis Dancers Board meeting minutes March 21, 2008

1. Those present: Cynthia Steiner, Barbara Braley, Jim Deininger, and Marty Baldridge

2. Next meeting: Friday April 18, 5 PM at Gullivers

3. Minutes: No feedback on the minutes from Feb.

4. Treasurer’s Report: Alan is not able to be here.

5. Membership: Jim has nothing new to report.

6. Newsletter: Where is Lynn? Cynthia would like to have the workshop topics go out on the flyer.

7. Dancemaster: We still need one.

8. Webmaster: John posts items on the web page as we send them to him.

9. Publicity: Barbara has nothing new.

10. Scheduler: Colleen is sick.

11. Corporation: Jim says we have to pay for new members monthly. New members go on, but we can’t take any expired members off, except once a year.

12. Dance Camp: Most of the meeting was taken up with dance camp planning.

Marty will work on a t-shirt design, although it is a barely break-even project.

The price for camp is $ 175 early adult, $195 adult

$55 early children (6-12), $75 children

$95 early full-time student (under 25), $115 student

Registrations must be postmarked June 1 or before for early prices.

Cabin rental will be offered at $10/ per person for the weekend.

The COPE course will be offered on Sat 1-5 PM for $20 each for 13-24 yr. olds.

Cooks only will be in the cooks’ cabin. Kitchen helpers/scholarship people will stay in other spots.

Our target date for posting the dance camp info on the web page is April 4.

Barbara volunteered to do decorating at Camp.

Workshops and sound for band will start at 1PM on Sat.

No concert before the in-town dance.

Taskmaster job-keep it? Ask folks to sign up for one easy and one hard job-color code jobs.

We got two bids for sound at camp. Gary Newman’s bid required we fix the floor at the lodge, which is out of our control. We accepted Lucy Peckham’s bid.

Cynthia has been corresponding with the Great Bear Trio for 2009. Adjourned at 7.

Dance Camp meeting on March 28, 2008

Those present: Lynn and Charley Basham, Cynthia Steiner, Jim Deininger and Marty Baldridge

Marty did a shirt design, with thanks to Skip Nodler for permission to use his song.

The COPE course will be $20 for the low and $30 for the high. Offer to all ages and see what we get. We need a minimum of 6 per group.

Bashams offered to house the caller, plus spouse and 3yr old; Caller is allergic to cats.

Lucy Peckham from Anchorage signed the sound contract and sent it via email to Alan.

There are 12 people with just the band plus families, to be housed by Bill and Betty.

Ask Barbara if Camp 2008 is listed in CDSS.

Cynthia will ask Stan Read to look at jobs lists for improvements.

Cynthia will ask Scott Bell to make workshop schedule and descriptions.
