2. Time, Date, Place of next meeting: Wed. Feb 14, 2001, Wood Center, 5:30 P.M.

3. Minutes: Corrections ? (add "for the year 2000" to the treasurers report for Dec) Marty will e-mail draft minutes to all board members to save paper and gather corrections.

4.Treasurers Check-in: Alan says we will have the hall rent for Dec. to pay, otherwise we are caught up.

5. Membership Check-in: Stan has nothing new to report.

6. Webmaster tells all: Gary posts the minutes of our meetings on the web as he gets them. He will send out an e-mail to remind folks of the next dance on Jan 20. He asked for and was granted permission for a one-time use of the mailing list (minus those folks who requested on their membership form) to help support the Fairbanks Winter Folk Fest coming up on Feb 9 and 10, 2001. Due to evening class schedules, he will not be able to make Wed. or Thurs. meeting dates.

7. Dance master Check-in: Jim reports he has dance-masters, but he goes through a whole page of the membership list to get one.

8. Folk Dance Report: Marty has the next folk dance scheduled for Sat. Jan 20, 6:00-7:30 P.M. The rest of the folk dances for the semester are on Feb 17, March 17, and April 21, all on third Saturdays from 6-7:30. The Folk dance on the Feb 17th Frolic night will happen amidst the potluck and auction.

Special Events : A glitch has appeared for Summer Dance Camp, as the Boy Scouts want to take back the Aug 17, 18, and 19 dates they gave us. They have offered the weekend before or after. Kathy and Stan will try to resolve the problem, by working with the Scouts and checking with the band and caller who have already agreed to the original dates and checking on the dance hall for the in-town dance and redoing any publicity they have out already if need be.

• Ken McFarland has generously offered to work on a special event for Winter 2002 (Thanks!)
• Greek Dance in March: The person didn't come to this meeting to tell about it.
• February Frolic Fund-raiser: We will have a workshop dance day on Feb 17. The schedule is as follows:
  • 10 AM -noon------Scottish dance with Ken McFarland
  • Noon - 1 PM ------Lunch break
  • 1-3 PM-------------English Country dance with Ken McFarland
  • 3:15- 5:15----------Advanced contras (with Kari ?)
  • 5:15-6:00-----------Potluck and silent auction
  • 6:00-7:30-----------International Folk Dance and ongoing potluck
  • 8:00-11:00----------Contra dance with Frostfire and Kari

  • The cost to dancers will be $15/ person for the whole day, which includes the evening Contra dance or $5/person per session. People coming just to the evening Contra dance will be charged the regular rates. We will keep a list at the door of who has paid for the day. Ken has volunteered his time to teach some dances during the workshops, on the condition that they then be done again in the evening dance. He will work with Susie and Scott on the music. He will also check with Queen's Penny to see if they would like to play for his dance workshop sessions. He is volunteering his time for the day since it is a fund-raiser. Ken suggested one person could head up the silent auction. Any volunteers ??? Sue Cole will ask businesses for donations for the auction. The silent auction will end during the Break at the evening dance.

10. Publicity Report: Barbara is not able to be here; she has a class during our meeting time. Alan will ask her to do a flyer for the February Frolic Fund-raiser which could be available at the next dance on Jan 20. There is also the March 30th dance with Celtic Confusion and Lynn Basham to add to the spring schedule.

11. Corporation Report: Lynn is not able to be here. The next corporation meeting is Jan 18 at Alaskaland at 5:30 P.M.

12. Student Rep Report: Suzy's not able to be here.

13. Newsletter Report: The next newsletter deadline is the 2nd week in Jan. Todd will put in the spring dance schedule, information for the February Frolic (including a call for silent auction items) Todd will do a postcard reminder for the fund-raiser and Stan will do the labels for him.

14. Scheduler's Report: Kathy is working on the callers for spring dances. We do have a third dance in March--she has scheduled Celtic Confusion and Lynn for the March 30 Contra dance. (Marty discovered it while checking the dance hall calendar.)

15. Anything else? On a trial basis we will help publicize FLOT's next performance in early Feb and in return they will give us tickets to their spring musical ("1776") for our silent auction.
