Contra Borealis Board Meeting

Minutes for May 11, 2000

  1. Those attending were: Steve Wilson, Stan Read, Jim Deininger, Alan and Barbara Braley, Sue Cole, Kathy Gingrich.

  2. Barbara and Sue called Marty Baldridge and twisted her arm during the meeting with the result that she agreed to try being the Secretary. Sue will work with her on this. It doesn’t involve a whole lot of time and is mostly done through the internet because we are working toward becoming a more paperless group. Thanks so much, Marty!!

  3. Steve and Chris will bring a cooked turkey to the potluck. Board members were asked to fill in with salads and desserts. There are disposable plates and silverware provided at the Hall for us to use as part of our membership.

  4. Members: about 200 at this time. About 135 flyers were sent out. Stan thought at first this would save money, but because it was less than 200, he had to send them by first class rate rather than bulk mail, so live and learn.

  5. Treasurer: we have to pay the Corporation about $300 in unpaid rent since last Fall, and pay Kathy Gingrich for a caller’s plane ticket, so we have about $300 left in the bank account. The money for the dance camp should start coming in soon to offset that.

  6. Special Events: Kathy was able to get a good price on a ticket, so that helped a lot. Things are coming along fine for now.

  7. Anything Else: possibly have more swing dances to raise money? Kathy will check with Kurt Byers about slow spots in his schedule to fill in with dances. This will not in any way interfere with our regular dances - just extra dances, so don’t anyone take this the wrong way!
