3. Treasurers Check-in: Alan Braley made a current report of our status. Seems about break-even.
4. Membership Check-in: Stan Read reports that there are 158 current members, which is down compared to some years. Stan reports that a person requested a refund for 2 people from Dance Camp since she let him know she was canceling before the deadline. There was discussion of policy and wording on the Dance Camp 2000 flyer and a decision to refund half of the deposit for two (which will be $90.)
5. Webmaster tells all: Not here [webmaster says "check the website"].
6. Dance master Check-in: Not here.
7. Special Events: Marty Baldridge reports that there have been 2 successful folk dances before contra dances. For the Sept 16 dance, there were 14 dancers and $76 was collected and turned over to Contra Borealis (some due to early contra arrivals). For the Oct 6 dance, there were 9 dancers and $26 collected and sent on to Contra Borealis. Two more are scheduled on Nov 3 and Dec 16, 6:00-7:30.
Susan Delisa would like to bring back the popular Quebec band Bourque, Bernard, and Lepage in Feb 2001, sometime between 6-13. They charge $600+/day as a band plus airfare and expenses. Susan says the last time they were here they did a concert, a dance, workshops and artist-in-schools and we nearly broke even. She is willing to work on it. Trudy has a concert on Feb.10 which could be a conflict.
8. Publicity Report: Barbara Braley reports that KUAC-FM would like Contra Borealis Dancers to answer phones on Oct 22 from 4-7 PM, the last slot of the festival. We need to provide 5 to 7 people. We need to modify her new posters to change the Nov 11 dance to Nov 10 to not conflict with Waltz Night.
9. Corporation Report: Sue Cole represented Contra Borealis on the audit for the corporation. The audit was done and signed by Sue Cole, Andy O'Grady and Irma Jean Zito. Lynn Basham will attend the next corporation meeting at 5:45 PM on Nov 16 at the Alaskaland Dance Hall. Jim Baldridge graciously agreed to be on the Building committee. C.B. will give $78 for Alaskaland Appreciation. It is time for insurance renewal. Stan will prepare a list of current members which will not include out-of-town people.
10. Student Rep Report: Not here.
11.Newsletter Report: Not here.
12. Scheduler's Report: Kathy Fitch says it is too hard to fit dance dates around other events and that we are trying to have a predictable pattern of the first Friday and the third Saturday for dances. She has the dates for the spring schedule:
14. Anything else? : Sue Cole reports that Don Turner is willing to bring some recorded couple dance music to play during the break. Sue was told this would be OK as the Corporation pays for ASCAP as part of our dues. If we use recorded music we need to make a note on the invoice we turn in to the hall and note approximately how many people attended.
Meeting adjourned at 6:45 P.M.
