Alaskaland Dance Hall 5:30 PM

1. Those present: Sue Cole, Stan Read, Alan and Barbara Braley, Lynn Basham, Gary Newman, and Marty Baldridge

2. Time, Date, Place of next meeting: Thursday Dec 14, Wood Center 5:30 P.M.

3. Treasurers Check-in: Alan says we are paid up for hall rent for Oct. and have paid the $78 for Alaskaland Appreciation. We made $49 on the last dance and $35(maybe) on the one before.

4. Membership Check-in. Stan says we have 156 current members. We have 124 local folks for insurance purposes, which includes students. Gary would like an updated e-mail list for members from Stan for sending dance reminders. "Expired" members get a mailing of the newsletter for a couple extra months. Gary could send an e-mail reminder for renewals.

5. Webmaster tells all: Gary e-mails reminders to members several days before the dances, especially helpful this week with the schedule change of the Tetrafiddles dance from Sat to Fri eve.

6. Dance master Check-in: Jim's not able to be here.

7. Special Events :Discuss callers for Summer Dance Camp--KGB (popular Seattle-based 3-member dance band) would love to play for next summer's Dance Camp North. They charge $100/person for each of the 4 events (Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun) plus airfare from Seattle. Stan will check with several callers who have worked with them, including Mike Richardson, Laura Me Smith, Eric Wayberg, and Mary Devlin. He will see who is available .

Folk Dance Report: Marty says there were 5 dancers at the last one; and she collected and turned over $20 to Contra Borealis. Interest is there; she has 45 folk dancers on an e-mail list. Another folk dance is scheduled for Sat. Dec 16, 6:00-7:30 P.M.

8. Publicity Report: Barbara says we need a key in The Box. Alan will get a key from Bill Galbraith and attach it permanently to The Box. Barbara asks when there is a schedule change, who is responsible for notifying everyone who needs to know ? The webmaster, newsletter person, hall scheduler, and publicity person all need to get the update. She will check with Kathy to see who needs to update everyone.

9. Corporation Report: The next corporation meeting is Nov 16 at Alaskaland at 5:30 P.M. All the locks have been changed at the Hall and we have to be issued new keys. Lynn will ask for 4 for contra dancers at the Corporation meeting.

Sat Dec 2 is the Alaskaland Clean-up Day from 9 A.M. till noon.

10. Student Rep Report: Suzy's working on it.

11. Newsletter Report: Todd's not here; he has a class during our meeting time. He requests news for the newsletter if anyone has any.

12. Scheduler's Report: Kathy's not here, but she sent an e-mail to bands for the Spring and Summer dance schedule. She wanted feedback by Nov 15. There was some discussion as this was early for bands to know their schedules, particularly for summer.

13. Anything else? Recorded music at the breaks- yes, no, maybe? Don Turner has been playing recorded music at the breaks during dances. He would like feedback on how people like it. Maybe put an item in the next newsletter or have people send comments to Todd via e-mail.

Meeting adjourned at 6:33 P.M.
