Steve Largent

"I grew up without a dad. So I know the suffering of children who don't have a father in their lives. But I also know that men can break that cycle of neglect-if they get the help they need. All Pro Dad is there to provide it."
- Steve Largent, Seattle

Steve Largent always had a vision for his family. Even before he met his wife Terry during their sophomore year of high school, Steve vowed that his home would be very different from the one in which he grew up.

Steve was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1954. His mother was his rock, especially after his father deserted the family when he was a boy. She tried to do what was best for her family, but married a man who turned out to be an alcoholic. During those tough years Steve leaned on other male role models like his grandfather.

When a child grows up without a father, there is an empty place where someone must stand, providing an example of character and confidence, Steve told the Connecticut Post in an interview. If no one takes that place, a child can live in a shadow all their lives. But if someone takes that place, a child can escape the shadows.

With the support and encouragement of those around him Steve did escape the shadows of his life. He went on to play professional football for the Seattle Seahawks and was later inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Steve is a former U.S. Congressman.

But it is the job of family man that Steve values most. His children Casie, Kyle, Kelly and Kramer mean the world to him. And he daily tries to fulfill his vow to make his home a place of love and peace for his own family.
