Hearing health quick test
Not sure if you have hearing loss? Take the quick test below by answering yes, no or sometimes for each question:
1. Difficulty following conversations in a noisy or crowded room?
2. Feel that people mumble or fail to speak clearly?
3. Difficulty listening to the TV or radio?
4. Hear better with one ear than the other?
5. Hearing difficulty interferes with personal, family, or social life?
6. Avoid going to social gatherings because of difficulty hearing?
7. Experience ringing or noises in your ears?
8. Experince difficulty following dialog in the theater?
9. Difficulty understanding soft or whispered speech?
10. Speech on the telephone is difficult to understand?
11. Feel handicapped by a hearing problem?
12. Hear better with one ear than the other?
SCORING:
2 points for "YES"
1 point for "SOMETIMES"
0 points for "NO".
Scores of 3 or more may mean that you have a hearing problem. Scores of 6 or more strongly suggest that a hearing check is warranted. In either case, further testing by an audiologist may be needed.
