Paul Gleadell

The chapters below are part of an autobiography by Beatriz's half-brother, Paul Gleadell. The 33 typed, legal sized pages tell his story up to his departure from England, in 1932, to join the British Army in India. These pages were supplied by Ben Muse of So. Dennis, Massachusetts.

From the title on the "Aunts" chapter it looks like this was written after 1963 when Paul would have been 53. Elsewhere he talks about his "late retirement." In the chapter titled, "Young Paul Gleadell" he talks about a trip he took to Yucatán in 1980. My guess is that most of this was written in the 1980s. The chapter titles below are Paul's, except for chapter four which was untitled in the pages I have.

Although there are eight chapters listed below, the typed pages suggest that Paul meant to write more. The last page is titled "Chapter 9: India and the Raj." If he did write more, I haven't found the rest of the pages.

Not all of the titles below are "live" links to chapters...yet. Live links are underlined.

1 - The Captain's Story
2 - "Stillwaters" (1864-1941)
3 - Aunts (1863-1963)
4 - Young Paul Gleadell
5 - Famillia Gregorii
6 - "Commons"
7 - Sandhurst
8 - "The Queen's Shilling"
